The purpose of Organization Process Definition is to develop and maintain a usable set of software process assets that improve process performance across SSC San Diego projects and provide a basis for cumulative, long-term benefits to SSC San Diego.
Organization Process Definition involves developing and maintaining SSC San Diego's standard software process, along with related process assets, such as descriptions of software life cycles, process tailoring guidelines and criteria, the SSC San Diego's software process database, and a library of software process-related documentation.
SSC San Diego's Commanding Officer and Executive Board shall:
1. Provide adequate resources and funding for developing and maintaining SSC San Diego's standard software process and related process assets.
The SSC San Diego Software Engineering Process Office (SEPO) shall:
1. Develop and maintain a standard software process for SSC San Diego.
2. Collect, review, and make available information related to the use of SSC San Diego's standard software process by the software projects.
3. Require training for the individuals who develop and maintain the organization's standard software process and related process assets in the performance of these activities.
4. Develop and maintain SSC San Diego's standard software process according to a documented procedure.
5. Document SSC San Diego's standard software process according to established organization standards.
6. Document and maintain descriptions of software life cycles that are approved for use by SSC San Diego projects.
7. Develop and maintain guidelines and criteria for the projects' tailoring of SSC San Diego's standard software process.
8. Establish and maintain SSC San Diego's software process database.
9. Establish and maintain a library of software process-related documentation.
10. Make and use measurements to determine the status of SSC San Diego's process definition activities.
11. Have the software quality assurance group conduct reviews or audits of SSC San Diego's activities and work products for developing and maintaining SSC San Diego's standard software process and related process assets and report the results.
The SSC San Diego Commanding Officer is responsible for implementing this policy.
The Software Engineering Process Office (SEPO) is responsible for maintaining this policy.
