Steps to Acceptance:

Meet eligibility requirements

Be an SSC SD employee or have money for program

Complete application for program

SSC SD Program Coordinator will review the application to see if you meet minimum requirements - if not, recommended actions are given

If you meet the minimum requirements, SSC SD Program Coordinator will request unofficial transcripts to review. SSC SD Program Coordinator may request an interview with you in person or discuss your situation by telephone

If your are an SSC SD employee, SSC SD Program Coordinator will send the qualified students names to the Departments and they review the names, review their budget and make a determination who will enter the program

If you are not an SSC SD employee, SSC SD Program Coordinator will notify your supervisor (POC) and let them know if you meet the requirements for the program

Note 1: You should notify someone in your chain of command that you have submitted an application for this program, so they are aware of it

Note 2: If you do not meet the minimum requirements and still want to enter the program, you should work to meet the prerequisites needed, e.g. if you have no education or experience in Ada programming, you should take a course in Ada prior to the program starting and your acceptance would be contingent on that.

Costs: For SSC SD civil servants, the program is free (books and tuition).

SSC SD has approved the costs.

For others, the program runs $15,000 - $20,000

Electives: Each student must take 2 of the 4 electives (all 4 are recommended)

Facilities: Courses: taught in Bldg 1, Room A509

Lab: Bldg 165 Bayside

Teaching Medium: The courses are interactive and are taught live in Monterey and via VTC in San Diego

Commitment: You will be making a 27 month commitment to take this program straight through. The program is intensive. Ask the students currently taking it.

School Year: There are four, 11 week, quarters per year There are four breaks, from one to two weeks in length

Minimum Requirements:

B.A. or B.S.

2 years software experience (mgmt or development)

experience or education in 6 courses below

ability to commit to 2 1/4 years

approval by your supervisor for SSC SD - approval by your Department Head
