Integrated Product Teams

From the SECDEF memo of 10 May 1995 "... I am directing a fundamental change in the way the Department acquires goods and services. The concepts of IPPD and IPT's shall be applied throughout the acquisition process to the maximum extent practicable."

Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) has been mandated for the DoD. IPPD is a mangement technique that simultaneously integrates all essential acquisition activities through the use of multidisciplinary teams (Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)) to optimize the design, manufacturing, business, and supportability processes.
