Model element traceability requirements

Model element traceability requirements are requirements associated to traceable model elements. As such, they act as "representatives" in Rational RequisitePro for Rational XDE model elements that are sensitive to requirements change. By tracing these requirements to other requirements in your project, you can monitor the impact of requirements change on model elements. You can view and modify the properties of traceability requirements from within XDE.

Unlike requirements associated to use cases, traceability requirements cannot be used to edit the name and text of their associated model elements. Traceability requirements always inherit the name and description of their associated model element in XDE. When you update your traceability requirement, any changes made to that requirement in the document are overwritten by the name and description of the model element in XDE.

Traceability requirements are genuine requirements with all the capabilities of other requirements. You can create traceability relationships and views for analysis in the same way you would for any other requirement.
