The RequisitePro-XDE Integration enhances XDE modeling capabilities with requirements management capabilities in RequisitePro through associations you make between use cases and other model elements to RequisitePro requirements.
You can edit use-case model elements from their associated requirements in RequisitePro databases and documents. You can develop a textual definition of the use case in a RequisitePro Microsoft Word document. In RequisitePro use-case documents, you can elaborate the use case with descriptions, flows of events, special requirements, and conditions.
The integration also lets you to assign requirement attributes, such as traceability, to traceable model elements through the use of model element traceability requirements. You can use these requirements to track the relationships between your model elements and other requirements using RequisitePro requirements management capabilities. Associating model elements with traceability requirements lets you review and assess the impact of requirements changes on your model elements. For more information about managing requirements in RequisitePro, see the RequisitePro user documentation.
This integration permits flexible mapping to RequisitePro at the model, package, or use-case level. You can use storage unit and controlled unit capabilities in XDE to extend your control of associated model elements stored in packages. You can associate models and packages with a RequisitePro project, which provides a location for storing and managing documents, attributes, default document types, and default requirement types.
When using the integration, use separate models for analysis and design. Your analysis model should contain your RequisitePro-XDE use-case associations, and your design model should include your RequisitePro-XDE design associations. Use model references to relay information between the models. For more information about model references, see "Working with Models, Model Elements, and Relationships" in XDE Help.
The use-case modeling capabilities of this integration are similar to those of Integrated Use Case Management, which integrates RequisitePro and Rational Rose. You can migrate use-case associations in a Rose model when you upgrade the Rose model to XDE. For more information on Integrated Use Case Management, see Integrated Use Case Management Help in Rational Rose by clicking Tools > Rational RequisitePro > Integrated Use Case Management Help.
Note The integration works only with one instance of XDE at a time. You can open multiple instances of XDE while using the integration, but the integration capabilities are available only in the first instance.
